Call backs- is an security method, which authenticates users before it provides them access to the network, from an external location, for example a network field engineer in HSBC is out working offsite, and for some reason they require access to the business network through their PDA, they would call back to the business (through phone or dialling the network up), and request access to the network they would then have to authenticate, themselves to gain the network access, usually they have a password set, so they would ask for the full name, and , 2nd, 4th, 7th or any random characters of the password, if you say them correctly, you gain the access to the network, the password/username security method is used in order to prevent unauthorised access to the HSBC network. This keeps systems and data secure, as in HSBC, each member is assigned with their own username and password, which will only provide them with access to only certain parts of websites.
