Firewalls- is a protection mechanism it is used prevent unauthorised access to an network, and it also enables remote access to the network, you must have heard having a good firewall is important because it also stops viruses infecting your device, you may had an message appear on your computer asking to disable the firewall you must click no or else, your device and network are open and this can result in data being deleted, edited or stolen. Firewalls are there to protect the user. In HSBC, a firewall would be used to protect the bank network so that the data is protected, they will use a mixture of hardware and software firewall where needed, to protect the integrity of data as well. A firewall would also be used on the HSBC network in order to prevent unauthorised access to the network.
