Levels of access to data- is another security method, it is about the reading, writing and access permissions users have on an network, there a low levels of access and high levels of access, the higher the level of access the more confidential private data the user can access, levels of access are set through a domain controller of a network, depending on the settings it provides different users with different rights, so there certain data they can access and certain data they cannot access. HSBC would use levels of access to data, so that employees can only access basic files which are necessary to them such as customer data and certain software, they could also use it to set a login, in order to access certain confidential files and folders. For example all staff, from the departments could access data involving that department, so IT dept. could only access their resources and no other department can access other department’s resources. (This would not allow employees to edit data or view data they don’t need) Then another level of access would be used for managers/executives, so that they can access the relevant data and use it where necessary. The final level of access would be for administrator, as they manage all resources and software on the network, so only the admin would be able to delete, files this would ensure all data is kept integral and only accessed by the correct personnel when needed, user profiles of employees are low level (as previously mentioned) as they only have access to data/software they require such as customer details, etc. this keeps data safe.
